For those of you who don’t know what a lead is in Minecraft. A lead is an item that was first added in Minecraft 1.16 update. Minecraft Leads can be used on any passive mob including baby villagers to a fence post, or just to hold them near you. So essentially a lead is basically used as a leash for passive mobs.
How do you get leads in Minecraft?
There are a few different ways you can get a lead in Minecraft. Most commonly Wandering Traders are the easiest way to get a lead. Wandering Traders typically spawn every 10 Minecraft days. During an extended period of time, a player can collect many leads using this method. When a Minecraft player comes across a Wandering Trader they should unalive the villager and its Llamas to obtain a max amount of 2 leads. The Llamas will drop the leads you’re looking for.
Another way to get leads in Minecraft is to unalive spiders and slime. This method allows you to obtain string and slimeballs. These are required to make the recipe for a lead. Alternatively to unaliving spiders just break spider webs in mineshafts, and you could get more string this way.
Finally, take the slime and string and put in a crafting table. You going to need 4 string per slimeball you put in the crafting table. Follow the pattern in the image to make 2 leads from this crafting recipe.
What is the command to give yourself lead in Minecraft?
The command to get a lead in Minecraft is /give <player> <item> <amount>. So for a lead, it looks like /give Fraivn lead 1. Now I have one lead in my inventory. For those playing on a console, this won’t work. The command only works for PC/Bedrock and pocket editions.
How do you tie a lead in Minecraft?
Leads typically can only be used on passive mobs like animals. However, you can use them on Hoglins, they’re the only hostile mob that can be used with a lead. To use leads on mobs, just have the lead in your hand and right-click on the mob you want to use it on. Now you have successfully tied a mob to your player, now said mobs will follow you around you can tie them on a fence. To tie mobs to a fence, just right-click with lead in hand on a fence, just like you did with the mob. Now you have tied the mob to your fence.
What can you put a lead on in Minecraft?
Leads can be tied to any passive mobs like polar bears, ocelots, parrots, dolphins, pigs, sheep, and cows. In addition to these mobs, the only aggressive mob can a lead be placed on is a hoglin.
After reading this you’ve probably thought wow it’s really this easy? And yes it is! Just so the reader is aware the lead is the most effective way to move mobs around your Minecraft world. That being said, you’re going to have to get creative when leads aren’t working with hostile mobs and villagers. Now I’m going to leave you with this fun fact. Leads are named ‘leash’ in the in-game files. Isn’t that weird? It’s definitely a more suitable name for leads in Minecraft.
