For those of you who don’t know what a lead is in Minecraft. A lead is an item that was first added in Minecraft 1.16 update. Minecraft Leads can be used on any passive mob including baby villagers to a fence post, or just to hold them near you. So essentially a lead is basically used as a leash for passive mobs.

How do you get leads in Minecraft?

There are a few different ways you can get a lead in Minecraft. Most commonly Wandering Traders are the easiest way to get a lead. Wandering Traders typically spawn every 10 Minecraft days. During an extended period of time, a player can collect many leads using this method. When a Minecraft player comes across a Wandering Trader they should unalive the villager and its Llamas to obtain a max amount of 2 leads. The Llamas will drop the leads you’re looking for.

Another way to get leads in Minecraft is to unalive spiders and slime. This method allows you to obtain string and slimeballs. These are required to make the recipe for a lead. Alternatively to unaliving spiders just break spider webs in mineshafts, and you could get more string this way.

Finally, take the slime and string and put in a crafting table. You going to need 4 string per slimeball you put in the crafting table. Follow the pattern in the image to make 2 leads from this crafting recipe.
